Education Outside the Classroom
Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) programmes provide ākonga with access to hands-on experiences that are not available inside the classroom.
Through EOTC programmes ākonga can learn vital skills in team building and leadership. They have experiences that help their ability to overcome limitations and grow their confidence. These programmes are aligned with the National Curriculum.
Year 7 Ākonga
Each year the Year 7 ākonga take part in the “Maidstone Survival Camp” This is a two-day experience at the school where ākonga bond and learn more about the “Maidstone way”. With opportunities to push past their uncertainty and obtain skills they never knew they had. The Maidstone Survival Camp is not to be missed.
Year 8 Ākonga
In the first term of every year, Year 8 ākonga get the exciting opportunity to attend a week long camp in Nelson. During this time ākonga create stronger bonds with their peers and push past self-imposed limitations.
This is a camp focused on creating strong role models and leaders as well as life long skills to best prepare them for the future.
